Meet Dr. Fairchild
A native of Columbia, South Carolina, she is committed to serving the citizens of her home state. She graduated summa cum laude from Presbyterian College with a degree in biology and a minor in chemistry, then earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She completed her medical training with an ophthalmology residency at Prisma Health/University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Women in Ophthalmology, and the South Carolina Society of Ophthalmology. During residency, she represented her program and the state of South Carolina at Mid-Year Forum, an annual event where ophthalmologists lobby on Capitol Hill for policies that preserve and improve patients’ ocular health nationwide.
Passionate about serving her community, Dr. Fairchild has volunteered with numerous organizations throughout her life, including Thornwell Children’s Home, The Free Medical Clinic, and animal rescues such as the Laurens County Humane Society and Pawmetto Lifeline. Since moving to Charleston, she has also volunteered with the Surfrider Foundation, an organization committed to protecting the ocean and ensuring access to clean beaches for everyone. She looks forward to becoming further involved in preserving the vitality and beauty of the Lowcountry.
